Together with Local Communities
Nippon Steel has a long history of managing steelworks all over Japan in harmony with local communities. With the objective of contributing to communities where we are based and realizing their sustainable growth along with our business based on good relationships, we are promoting social activities with emphasis on assisting the community’s environmental preservation, sports and cultural activities, and education. As a trusted and responsible member of the community, we have distinctive social contribution program activities. These programs include promoting the creation of “hometown forests” by planting trees and shrubs in communities, the operation of regional sports clubs that increase community spirit, musical activities at Kioi Hall, and by endowing a university donated course (which also contributes to one of our business strategies, “enhancement of our technological superiority.”)
Creation of “Hometown Forests”
We create hometown forests to help prevent global warming, in addition to conserving biodiversity when so doing.
Supporting Sporting Activities
We support local baseball, volleyball, rugby, judo, football, and other athletic teams.
Providing Education on Manufacturing and the Environment
We conduct various activities to make children and students, who lead the future, better understand the steel industry.
Partnerships with External Organizations and NGOs
We help develop various environmental relations in the international and local communities.
Various Support Activities in and out of Japan
We cooperate and support a wide range of activities in academic and educational areas, and for art and culture, sports, local communities, welfare, and disaster support.
